North Peace Optometry Clinic is looking for an Optician or Optical dispenser to join our busy team in Fort St John, BC.

Our clinic has been serving the north for over 40 years. We are a locally owned, family-oriented practice dedicated to offering the best vision care services, contacts and eye wear for individuals and families in our community. NPOC has 4 amazing optometrists. We specialize in everything from comprehensive eye exams to contact lenses and more. We have the only vision therapy clinic in the Peace Region.

Job Summary:

As an Optician, you will be working with our Optical Team fitting patients with proper lenses/frames, completing adjustments and repairs while providing them world class service and enhancing their quality of life. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, possesses a successful track record in sales, exceptional customer service, and can build relationships with people from all walks of life and is genuinely passionate about helping people. Optical experience is required for this position. This position is a long-term position with lots of opportunity.

What do we expect from an Optician?

  • Help patients choose frames that work best with their face shape, personality, style and need.
  • Understand a patient's visual needs and recommends a lens that will provide the best vision for them.
  • Take measurements on lenses that can be made correctly for each patient
  • Uses different techniques in fitting patients with special visual needs.
  • Create eyewear orders to send to labs and receiving them to dispense to patients.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as receiving payments, patient billings, recalls, document management and data collection. We are seeking an experienced optical candidate with the right attitude who is self driven, friendly, flexible and adaptable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keep the boutique clean and well organized; maintain all patient charts in an organized manner; update all patient information in the electronic medical record system (EMR) upon completion of each visit/call.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times!
  • With a focus on team leadership, business growth, and fostering a positive work environment, you will contribute to the continued success and reputation of the practice.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve issues

We are seeking an experienced optician candidate with the right attitude who is self driven, friendly, flexible and adaptable.

Skills:

  • Proven work experience as an Optician; experience as an assistant or similar role is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of optical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • We will train you on how to use our computerized medical records system (EHR) to enter data into the system eg. create lab orders, schedule appointments etc.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
